A high-quality search is one of the basic pillars of a good job portal. Or rather – it should be. Unfortunately, the reality is very often that users must use a simple full-text search, at best supplemented by filtering by basic parameters. Then, they have to deal with it themselves. Let’s take a look at how we understand the term search on Skilleto

If we omit the classic full-text search (in the job description), then a number of criteria are offered, according to which job positions can be searched or filtered. For example, field and role, required knowledge or skills, language requirements, salary evaluation offered, employment types that the company offers. Furthermore, for example, the locations where the work can be performed, the possibility of remote cooperation, the size or type of company – whether you will work directly or through an agency. Last but not least, the benefits – what the user, different priorities and preferences. For one, the primary criterion may be the salary, for another a “pet-friendly office”.

There are plenty of options and it would be a pity not to use them. Whatever criterion you come up with, we dare to say we will be able to use it for job search on Skilleto 🙂

Basic search

Simply put: anything you can click on – whether it’s “tags” in the job view (roles, skills, salary, employment types) or quick filters on the left (field, size, and type of company, location, and more ) – is also searchable. The search engine suggester will handle everything else. Try to start writing, for example, “meal vouchers” or “pet-friendly office” – yes, you can also search by benefits!

Exact level search

So far, quite a decent amount of possibilities 🙂 But let’s move it one level up! What do you think to be able to search for specific skill levels? Let’s say you want to find all the jobs where “Java” at the expert level is required. For Skilleto, this is a trifle 🙂 Of course, we can also search for everything that can have a set level (especially skills and languages). How? Tags in the search engine also act as buttons – simply click on the search criteria to set the exact level you want to search. Just like adding skills to a profile. It really couldn’t be easier.

Level range search

Fine, searching for the exact level of required skill is cool, but what if you want to search for a range? Like “Java at an advanced level or higher”? We thought of that too, and level search is possible in three ways: exact level (see above), exact or higher, and exact or lower.

Required skills and/or languages

And that’s still not all! When combining multiple requirements (skills, languages), you can certainly think: “I want to find all positions where Java and the Spring framework are required, optionally also Spring Boot”. Well, honestly – no one but Skilleto will allow you this 😉 And definitely not in combination with everything mentioned above 😀

Exclude from search

Well, a bonus at the end: “and what if I don’t want to look for something?”. For example: “I want to look for jobs where Javascript is required, but I definitely don’t want to come into contact with Java!” (note: randomly selected combination, please do not take it personally 😀 ). Even in this case, Skilleto will not leave you “in the lurch”.

Everything we have listed so far and everything that can be searched can also be excluded from the search. Just click the “Exclude from search” link below the search box and enter everything you don’t want to search for in the second search box. Or even simpler – use drag & drop to drag the selected criteria between the two search boxes. And when we say that it is possible to exclude everything, we mean EVERYTHING! For example, in this example, you do not want to completely exclude Java, but you are simply not interested in those positions where Java expertise is required. Trifle 🙂
